Feeling
a call on their hearts from God, Pat and Joyce Jeffrey
interviewed with the "New Church Development Committee"
of the Presbytery of Pueblo (Presbyterian Church U.S.A.)
in March of 2001. The call for Pat to serve as Organizing
Pastor of a new church development in Falcon, Colorado
was confirmed, and in June 2001, they arrived with their
family from Haines, Alaska.
For
the first year, their mission was to get to know
people, study the demographics of the area, attend
church planter training events, begin to understand the
needs of the community, and seek God's guidance for how
and when to begin.
Ministry to children and youth was
launched in February 2002. "K.R.A.S.H." ("Kidz Rejoicing
And Serving Him") reaches into the lives of Falcon children
in grades K-5. The Youth Group is for those in grades 6-12.
Open Gym Nights were sponsored for adults and youth at
Woodmen Hills Elementary School.
Small groups for women, men and couples started meeting
on a regular basis in the fall of 2002. In September of
2002, we began meeting together on Saturday evenings at
the Heritage Centre in Latigo Trails and the name
"Grace Community Church" was selected.
Sunday
morning worship began in October of 2003 at the Heritage
Center. It has been exciting to see how God is placing
a "calling" on people's hearts to join in the ministry
of Grace Community Church. Adult Bible studies have taken
place. Men's group takes place twice monthly and
"Women of Grace" meet on the first Monday evening of
each month.
God is bringing together a warm
and welcoming community where friendships deepen and trust
grows. Newcomer's make friends easily as they visit over
coffee, attend a study group, or go on a trip such as to
Water World, downhill skiing, or family hiking.
We have just completed a new building located at 9475 Grace
Church View. Our first worship services at the new location
were August 16, 2009 and dedication for the new building
was held on September 13, 2009.
